Our Perfect Weekend

This weekend was absolutely amazing and just what we needed.

We needed it for two reasons.
1.  Things have been pretty boring here in Florida.
and
2.  Nick is finally classing up for API (or so he was told) this Thursday.  HOORAY!!!!!!

But I'm going to go back to my Mizzou roots....where weekends started on Thursday.
{No, Nick and I didn't venture to Harpo's (although I would have very much enjoyed that).}

Thursday...
...was a very rainy and stormy day.  That alone made the day awesome.  We actually haven't had many storms since we moved here.  We get rain, but really no thunder or lightning.  And I LOVE me some severe storms!  In addition to the already perfect storms outside, I had my husband home with me (which isn't anything new.)  We were cuddled up on the couch (#2 reason it was a great day) watching television when he changed the channel.  I hadn't seen what he selected from the guide but I could tell a movie was starting.  I asked what we were watching and he responded, "Time Travelers Wife."  What?!  My husband, a male, turned on THIS movie...without my asking?!  Yep!  He sure did.  He remembered a long while ago I had mentioned I wanted to watch this with him.  (I had already seen it twice but I love the book and the movie).

Friday...
...Friday day wasn't anything too special.  I just did normal housework stuff.  But Friday was my Grandmother's 80th birthday.  I called her and we talked for about 30-45 minutes.  I absolutely love that woman and miss her so much!
Friday nights are usually spent inside watching a movie (which I love but it does get old).  Downtown Pensacola was having "Gallery Night".  I'm not too sure what Gallery Night is other than it's packed, people walk in and out of the shops and stores, some places offer free alcohol and food, and there are alcohol and food vendors and music all over the (closed) streets.
We headed downtown and met up with Jenny & Matt (a couple we hang out with a lot down here.  Jenny is a fellow NAG which makes Matt a fellow NAD.)  Right when we arrived we found Elizabeth and Charlie (another NAG who just moved down here).  We talked, we walked around.  If we're being honest, we went for the free booze.  Which we did not find (although we did not look very hard.)
Nick  ran into another USNA guy, a '10 grad, who invited us to a winging party [downtown]...with free beer.  So off we went.  We did go for free beer but we also went because Nick was interested to see what a winging party was like since he hadn't been to one yet.  (It also gave Jenny and I an idea of what we'll be expected to throw in about 2 years.)
Afterwards, we headed to Seville Quarters, a bar that has like 6 bars inside it (a club, wine bar, just a casual bar, patio, live band, piano bar, etc.)  We headed to the casual type bar and the boys played pool while Jenny and I sat and drank and talked.
Might not seem like oh so much fun but just being out and about with friends, laughing, and having a good time is one of my favorite things to do.

Saturday...
we woke up and headed to meet some friends at the dog beach.  It was a gorgeous day!  When we left the house, it seemed a bit chilly so we dressed in jeans, long sleeves, and tennis shoes.  But by the time we got there, it was getting pretty warm.  Twenty minutes in, and I was taking off my zip up hoody and wearing just a tank top.  It felt amazing! {Nick and I both got a little burnt...oopsie}
The dogs had a blast!  Vino has not been in the water yet.  By the time we adopted her and she was vaccinated, it was late October and the water was to cold for her.  (She's like her mommy...skin & bones, no protection from cold, and always shivering).  We have thrown her in a few times previous to this trip and she did not like it. But today, after about an hour and a half, we look over and see her slowly walking in!!!  She didn't go in very far but we'll take what we can get.  I think if other dogs weren't around, she'd go much further.  She would only go in when Yadi was in, or to she'd chase a ball (if it didn't go too far).  But if another dog came too close, she ran out.  (Maybe she's also like her mother and has this irrational fear that everyone in the water is out to get her and dunk her and drown her.)
Vino loved to play with the ball in the water.  She'd paw at it to dunk it, watch it pop back up, and bat at it again.  She's still so much a puppy!
We even met another Weim! When he entered the beach, Vino ran up to him and started sniffing him.  I think she was a little confused...she thought it was her sister but then saw the massive testicles and his chub and quickly ran away realizing this was NOT her sister.  Her sister is much leaner and more attractive.

After the beach, we headed up to the dog park to let the dogs run and dry off.  After about 45 minutes we all piled in our cars and headed to Sonic.  We sat outside on the patio, enjoying the 75 degree weather, delicious lunch, and the company of amazing friends and all our pups.

That evening I was pretty bummed about not being home.  [See this post]  Nick asked if I wanted to watch a movie and I asked if we could watch "Something Borrowed."  I had read the book and have been wanting to see the movie.  And just the other day, we saw a preview for it.  'Rachel' and 'Darcy' were doing a Salt-n-Pepa "Push It" dance.  That scene alone made Nick want to watch it.  So he happily agreed. We cuddled and watched yet another girly movie.
I'm not sure if Nick liked the movie, but he did enjoy the "Push It" dance scene.  I jokingly suggested we learn it and he said "Okay" (although I'm sure he was kidding).  Now, you know I'm not big on dancing but I will totally do this if it means I can see Nick doing this dance from the movie, seen below:
Please tell you wouldn't find it HILARIOUS to see a male, especially your own {straight} husband doing this dance?!  I might need to get a few mojitos in him first but I'm going to try ;)

After the movie, my dear sweet husband gave me a back, neck, and shoulder massage....without my asking =)

I picked a winner ladies and gentlemen!

Sunday...
morning, I wake up at 4:30am and Nick says "Get dressed" as he's putting ice into a cooler.  I do as I'm told.  Nick locked the dogs up in their crates and we got in the car.  We arrived at one of my most favorite spots in Pensacola...a very nice, beautiful, and secluded beach (even in mid-afternoon it's pretty vacant).
My amazing husband was taking me to watch the sunrise via the beach!!!!!!  We spread out blankets and cuddled up under the blanket. He got out champagne glasses and made us mimosas.  We cheers-ed to us and then watched a gorgeous sunrise.  It was amazing!!!!!  It was chilly but it didn't matter.  This was one of my favorite moments with him.  We agreed we want to do this again because we enjoyed it so much.

And after the rough night I had last night with missing my family, I really needed this.  It's moments like this that remind me that Nick is worth missing my family.

I can not think of a more perfect way to spend Sunday morning than cuddled up in your husbands arms, on the beach, mimosas in hand, watching the sunrise.  It really doesn't get better than that!

To end it all perfectly, tonight he made dinner, I enjoyed a glass of wine,and we're about to cuddle up to another movie (not a chick flick...I let him choose this time.  His choice: "Hall Pass")

Weekend Complete.

It was a perfect weekend and I feel very blessed for this life I have and all those I have in it.  Especially my Husband.  Thank you, Nicholas!  I Love You!
